Local doctors meeting with former All Saints executive about new medical group

Fifty local doctors are meeting today with Thad Johnson, former executive vice president of All Saints Healthcare, to discuss creating a new medical group, according to insiders.

Johnson left All Saints in 2004 after five years with the company. He then became president of The Janzy Group for three years and then president of New England Medical Care in 2007. Johnson now lives in the Phoenix area.

One tipster says Johnson was forced out of his job at All Saints in 2004 by Wheaton-Franciscan President and CEO John Oliverio.

  1. I know nothing of Thad Johnson, but one does wonder about someone that's lived in four different cities in the past six years. Anyone have any additional info on this guy?

  2. Thad Johnson is a womanizer. Every cute, young female employee was very nervous around him. He was a follower of Ken
Busers and helped run this organization to the ground. I'm surprised the doctors want to talk to him. He was part of the problem.

  3. Thad Johnson was and old friend of Ken Buser the current CEO of All Saints Ken brought him here a year or two after he himslef arrived on the sean. It always appeared to be a free ride given to Thad and maybe someone got wind of it (lie Oliverio) and i know he was let go during one of their earlier cuts to attempt to make the employees believe they were cutting from tht top too. I am sure there was a large severence package that went with it.

  4. His name is Thad and therefore lame.

  5. None of this is Ken Buser's fault. Ken, as well as Dr. Meyer, have been put in this situation. They have to toe the company line or have their nuts cut off.

I'm sure these 2 guys are just as appalled as anyone. Prior to the Wheaton "takeover", they worked hard to make All Saints a good provider and employer.

The bottom line is that All Saints, a profitable, fairly well run outfit, was swallowed up by Wheaton, a perrenial money loser.

    Like marrying into poverty.

  6. Thad Johnson is worthless. He would not even say hi to you unless you were skinny and had a short skirt on. I am short and heavy and he wouldn't give me the time of day when I worked there.

I can't believe these physicians would even think about Thad. It should really tell the people in Racine that these physicians aren't too smart!

Sure am glad that I don't work there any more!

    What a true waste!

  7. I worked at All Saints when Thad Johnson was there. I never knew him to be a womanizer. What I do remember is that he had a good working relationship with the physicians. It seemed he knew that the backbone of a healthcare facility is its' medical staff. Happy physicians benefit patients, staff, and ultimately the bottom line.

  8. I wonder if the Journal Times will cover this meeting?

Far be it from me to criticize them since they recently win 6 journalism awards for their high school sports coverage.

If that doesn't prove their greatness, I don't know what would.

  9. Traditionally most doctors are not great at business and business people are for naught at medicine. To mix the two pursuits is a problem waiting to happen...and we all pay dearly (in so many ways) when that occurs.

  10. What Happened to the other comments? Racine Post isn't censoring, is it???

  11. They aren't censoring....there is like 3 or 4 threads now about Wheaton. The original mutiny one has tons of comments.

And btw, the Journal Times sucks. Just thought I'd add that.

This is a good example of where having the Anon option in posting is a good thing. I know some people don't like it and complain (sometimes with good reason) but overall it is a nice safety net to use to comment.

You take the good with the bad I guess.

  13. It was not a sad day when Thad Johnson was gone -- if anything, it marked the start of a positive employee culture at All Saints.

  15. Hello 57001 poster,,,once you learn how to spell and minimize the drooling, you should do a little research on this subject.

  16. I was a employee at Wheaton in Racine who is now retired. I knew and worked with Thad Johnson when he was the Vice President. I think he is outstanding man who I have a lot of respect for. He always said Hello in the hallways, and seemed to care very much about improving all areas he was in charge of. As far as I am concerned it started to go downhill after he left. Good choice Doctors, and Good Luck Thad.

  17. To the Thad supporter, I am presuming that you are supporting the fact that he was a wominizor. Oh by the way do they still have the street named after him? "Thad Way" he had a free ride and no real assignment and i know it for a fact. I was there and I was close to it all.

  18. Thad Johnson is a very nice person and a good administrator. He was able to get to the bottom of some big troubles at the begining of the merge of the hospital/clinics. It was a sad day when he was out. He would listen and respond and made it his interest to help the employees; it is rude and disrepectful to call him a womanizer. When he was around it wasn't so "necessary" to call a consultant because he had a way of getting to the bottom of a problem. Ken Buser was more effective when he wasn't under the thumb of the Milwaukee executives. It is very sad for Racine to have all of this unrest. I long for the days when the 2 clinics were in competition for patients and there were 2 decent hospitals to choose from. I hope Thad can help the doctors because it is true, they are often not the best at business matters but the ones I know are very sincere at providing good care to the community. I think if Thad Johnson would return to the community it would be a very good day.

  19. Dustin and Pete,
Good work. This is your story inspite of the Journal Times looking for a scoop. No one should trust the JT because of it's entwining with the WF management.

I hope the donations to this site keep/start/ coming in to support the Racine Post. We don't know what we would do without it!

  20. I know first hand that the Journal -Times is watching this site like a hawk. Their loosing readership one by one.

I just bought my wife a computer so she can look at the news online.

  21. Thad was here for five years. Hospital revenue went from 200 million a year to 360 million a year. Physician satisfaction was above 90 percentile and patients and staff were happy.
Thad has been gone five years and revenue is still at 360 million. Physician satisfaction is 14 percentile and the staff and patients are pissed.Ken Buser has had his balls removed by Olivario.

  22. I too am a former patient of the All Saints-Wheaton system. I left because of billing issues. I have a career of 20 years in medical billing and medical practice management and was simply appalled by their inept practices. Patients are customers too Mr Oliviero. You must have missed school the day they taught that in business class.

I am very proud of the physicians who are taking a stand against this organization. It cannot be easy to be practice to the best of your abilities under the present circumstances. I really hope that the doctors can be released from these contracts so they can stay and serve the people of Racine.

I work for a health system in Milwaukee as a manager and the physicians I work with are employed and are very happy. The business model under which they practice is one of fairness to everyone involved including our patients. This health system prospers and quality care is dispensed. It can be done! I live it every day.

Not everyone can go to Milwaukee or Kenosha for their health care especially in an emergency situation so this story should be a concern to every resident of Racine.

Thank you to Racine Post for covering this issue.

  23. Thad, Can you say tortious interference? I hope that idiot does meet with the docs and then gets sued into oblivion for interfering with Wheaton's contracts. Thad is a clueless buffoon who's popularity was proportionate to his utilization of the company's expense account. Doc's, watch your wallets!

  24. From a business perspective (not the angst ridden "womanizing" comments), Thad was productive and profitable for All Saints. He made calculated risks that grew All Saints. Patient and physician satisfaction was high, All Saints had a step-up on Aurora, and quality physicians were brought in, bot leaving All Saints. While, it may be due to Ken Buser being more interactive and Wheaton being non-existent--that fact remains that when Thad was there--patients, physicians, employees, and therefore the community was better served.

  25. i worked at st marys for 12 yrs and was let go in the first crunch about 5 yrs. ago.i loved my job, and the people i worked with and the patients.st marys went down the tubes when the merge came and aldo when all of the sisters dwindled down. years ago st marys was a hospital to take care of the sick, now its just out to make money.the good sisters ran it and ran it well and the doctors that worked in the clinics stayed until they retired.and they didnt rush you out of their office. i know its not the doctors fault. they have to make a quota and see so many patients a day. how can you give good health care like that?

  26. Management at Wheaton blows ass by whatever means necessary. They want you to believe them but they are very manipulative, especially that Margaret Mallnory. But we as employees see that they are only trying to focus on pleasing the physicans right now. They say FUCK the staff they dont count. I just hope when they are done with pleasing the doctors they jump down on the bottom of the card deck and help us out! PLEASE
John Olivero --- I sent you a letter about management in the Womens Health Pavilion before and you brushed it under the rug.... Oh yeah you must be fucking them too!

  27. I would be happy to work forThad. I'm sure that not only MDs,but nursing staff, moa's, and support staff that would what ever needed to be done to show Racine that Wheaton is not the only healthcare facility in Town. There are helthcare providers that do care more about patients then the politics that put forth roadblocks when trying to do what is best for all involved.

  28. Doesn't it say something when most of All Saints management has obtained their position by kissing butt to move up the ladder. Most managers don't have appropriate education. (They may go to night school once they got thier position) As long as they don't ask questions, and manage as the ivory tower states they can manage without education. I think they need to reevaluate. Their management team. They need people with degrees. They need to recruit management from outside to help restore trust from employees. Most know how bad management really is

  29. I am one who lost my job due to financial cut-backs year ago. In that same year, the executives at All Saints gave themselves huge bonuses. The same has happened many times since - people are out of jobs, but Ken Buser and his pals get a big bonus. Where is the down-side for him? One more little observation about Ken - he never does the dirty work himself - he makes someone on his staff do it. There are so many fabulous doctors in the Medical Group. They deserve more than being asked to take pay cuts, while those in charge of billing are incompetent, and, again, Ken takes his bonus to the bank. Medical Group Docs - I hope you do the smart thing for yourselves. Leave. Take a better offer. Thad Johnson is the best businessman I have ever seen, and a dedicated family man. He cares about the doctors and will make them successful.

  30. Thad doesn't have the intelligence to run a lemonade stand. All he cares about is acting like a big shot.
