Happy Birthday, to us

Oh, the damnable irony!

Here we were, about to remind all of you that today is our second birthday... and what must we confront but some kind of outage at our service provider, rendering our front page, www.racinepost.com, unavailable for most of this afternoon.

Ah, well, it'll get fixed. In the meantime, have a virtual drink, or a piece of virtual birthday cake with us. Since our start on Oct. 1, 2007, RacinePost has served up 2,336 blog posts, 1,006 Kiosk posts, 1,058 Racine obituaries and too many local photos to count. And we've provided a home for a gazillion comments, many of them actually respectful, interesting and on-topic.

Readership has grown to over 7,000 unique visitors per month.

We thank you for your continued participation.

  3. Happy Birthday Racinepost:

What did we do before you cam along? Oh I know! we only had the JournalTimes. Thank you Racinepost for bringing another voice to the people, either good or bad. Many of us appreciate the avenue you have given us to have a voice and to read about other voices.

  6. Happy birthday. Now if you could just learn to use the toilet.....lol. Really, you both deserve kudos for informing residents with stories and issues in all local municipalities. Stories the (unmentioned local newspaper) would NEVER carry due to politics and add revenue. Keep up the good work!

  7. Thank you for your hard work and caring focus, your reporting on local issues.

Despite the ignorant comments, you are doing a fine job.

    Happy B-day!

  8. Year one a fantasic place to get news that the J-T would never print.
Year two morphed into a combo of the J-T and The Progressive.

  9. Happy Birthday folks. It is good to see you around town covering things that the JT probably doesn't even know is happening.

You have really changed the definition of media coverage in this community and others that have followed your lead.

  12. I love the Racine Post. My husband reads it faithfully and has passed the site onto others.

What we should do is make sure we are signed up to contribute $ monthly to help this continue to be a great site and help these guys cover Racine events AND excellent reporting at meetings that the RJT can't comprehend and rely decently. Thanks so much.

  13. Happy Anniversary, Congratulations and thank you ! The Post has been very kind to downtown Racine. Your stories are posted quickly. You are the best source of Racine News. Now if we can find a way to keep the blogs either positive or worthy of a healthy debate. Here's to many more years ! Good work.

  14. What a "news" relief for Racine. People may not always like the views and truth the Post puts out there, but it's the facts, Jack. Happy Birthday, thank you!, and may you celebrate many more.

  15. If only they would stick to the news and leave their personal views out of things, they'd be ok.

Also tacky is when they (Dustin and Pete) jump on the blogs to try and defend people they like.

  16. While you are working into year 3 would you look into why the State would violate its own open records laws to think about charging for CCAP access. If the record exists the current law doesn't allow charging for access except printing. If it is online, there is no printing. To me this is another hidden tax and the State again thinking about violating its own laws. Thank you

  18. Such high hopes over that first year. The baby was cute, smart, special and unique.

Unfortunately the terrible twos set in early. The toddler was selfish, opinionated, moody and screamed when it didn't get its way.

School is out on the further maturation process(if there is any).

  19. 2 years and you don't even have your own website?

No wonder people don't consider you a 'real' newspaper.

So happy birthday on keeping an opinion-based 'newspaper' wannabe running.

Maybe you'll be a real boy someday.
