Three Citroen 2CVs at last year's microcar exhibition
Microcars will take over Monument Square on Saturday, July 24, for the third annual Micros on the Monument exhibition of all makes and models of vintage microcars.
Applications are now being accepted for this year’s show; there is no entry fee. An application form can be downloaded online or owners can call the Downtown Racine Corporation at 262-634-6002 to receive a form by mail. All vehicles must be pre-registered prior to the show.
A vintage micro car is under 11 feet long and/or having an engine with less than 700cc displacement and having three or four wheels. Some typical makes include the Isetta, Citroen 2CV, Crosley, Daf, Goggomobile, King Midget, Messerschmitt, NSU Prinz, Subaru 360, Vespa 400 and more. Some micro cars are also called “bubblecars” because of their semi-spherical shape; among these are Heinkel, Messerschmitt and Isetta.
Micros on the Monument will present a People’s Choice Award for the most popular microcar on display. For more information, call the DRC or Jim Garbo at 262-497-8610.
