How big is the oil spill?

If you're having a hard time visualizing how big the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is, consider this Google Earth app by Paul Rademacher. It takes an outline of the oil spill on the ocean floor and overlays it on any city you'd like in the world. Above is what the spill would look like centralized on Racine. Click here try the app yourself.

  1. Interesting how the oil execs down play the impact of the spill. I believe said this was a minor incident. If it is so minor why isn't it fixed by now.

Thanks for the perspective in the article. I also like the new main page layout of the Post.
