Madison Protests: 'This is what democracy looks like'

The Tea Party Protest was drowned out by anti-Walker crowd.

The pro-Walker demonstrators tried to rally, but they were pretty meager.

Signs ruled the day at the peaceful protest around the Capitol.

The weather was beautiful.
These two want a "Paradimes Shift."

The crowd marching past where the Tea Party rally was organized. It was truly thousands versus hundreds.

You can see a handful of pro-Walker signs in the background.

This was pretty much the look of the Walker crowd.

Even the Walker side had some funny signs.

Lots of attacks on corporations.

For Harry Potter fans

Inside of the Capitol. They allowed 4,000 people inside of the building at one time.

"Please don't tea bag our children"

"Johnny Walker is what we drink. Scott Walker is why we drink."

A silent protest.

This demonstrators directed teachers to actual doctors at the protest who signed notes for sick days taken to attend the rally.

  1. 15,000 Pro Walker folks show up on 24 hours notice without national labor and the President's political arm on their side, Racine Post labels as a meager.

    You really are ridiculous.

You might want to try and tell both sides of the story at some point.

    Liberal claptrap

  3. Oct. 6, 1995: At 5 a.m., after an all-night session of the Wisconsin Senate, Sen. George Petak, R-Racine, switches his vote, enabling the plan to use taxpayer money to build a retractable-roof stadium for the Brewers to pass by a 16-15 margin. (The switch costs Petak his seat in the Senate: On June 4, 1996, he loses to Rep. Kim Plache, D-Racine, in a recall election.)

  4. Your title is apropos to the demonstration. It is why Madison (the writer of the Constitution, not the City) warned against democracy (Federalist 10).

The way the U.S. constitution was set up—and was emulated in the Wisconsin constitution—it is easier to undo bad law than it is to put it in there in the first place. That’s good news for taxpayers. And bad news for unions what wish to maintain their stranglehold on the state’s economy.

    -

What the hell - here is the Madison quote. You might as well print that too: Hence it is that such democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property; and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths.

Call your union Rep and ask him what you will do when this state becomes a "right to work state"?

  12. If you want to be polite then also censor that teab*gg*r word. Which is a profanity. And shocking that a media wannabe online newssite like racinepost, would actually use it in captions to its photos. So are you aiming to be a real news source or just a gossip mag? If so then drop the bias and liberal slant. I do not see balanced reporting here. Esp of the Support Walker Rally which I was in the midst of Saturday, and it certainly was not a small gathering. oh and btw why did you copy the exact same design as seen on drudgereport.com?

  15. Go Walker get this entitlement crowd away from our bulging deficit...maybe they can go get a real job in the private sector! Oh wait they may have to work 12 month out of the year and actually pay their fair portion of a pension and healthcare! Hey dickert balancing the budget doesn't mean raising property taxes each year in a city that continues to decline in population...see why we are leaving! Quit trying to get re-elected and do what is right! Tell the teachers they can't have their cake and eat it too!
