Carnauba lands in SC Johnson's new Fortaleza Hall

The Carnauba has landed.

A replica of the airplane that launched SC Johnson's fortune is clearly visible inside the new Fortaleza Hall on the company's Racine campus. And it looks pretty impressive.

The glimmering plane hangs from the ceiling of the sleek, cylindrical building near the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed research tower. Sam Johnson and his sons, Fisk and Curt, flew the Carnauba to Brazil in 1998 to retrace the route HF Johnson Jr. - Sam's father - used to discover carnauba wax that became SC Johnson's first major product.

Fortaleza Hall is part of SC Johnson's $40 million "Project Honor," which is a tribute to Sam Johnson. The company hired Lord Norman Foster and his London-based Foster + Partners firm to design the building.

In addition to Fortaleza Hall, which will serve as an educational facility, Project Honor also includes a Community Building for SC Johnson employees. The building will include a dining room, fitness center, bank, company store and concierge service. (See more details about the project here.)

Construction is scheduled to be finished this month.

Now you see it... now you don't.

The plane was gently lowered...

...into the basement Tuesday night.

  2. What a great way to honor a great man who gave so much to the community of Racine and the world. The architecture is amazing and will create a place of interest for visitors to come to Racine. Another great landmark for all of Racine County to be proud of.

  3. THE ONLY SHAME HERE IS THAT A ONE OF A KIND PLANE IN FLYING CONDITION WAS MOTHBALLED DUE TO(PROBABLY), high maintenance costs, because it had a weatherproof place in the EAA chapter building. It is the next generations call, though.

"The company hired Lord Norman Foster and his London-based Foster + Partners firm to design the building." Does London-based mean they have a firm here in the US? If not, couldn't they find a US firm to design the building?

  5. Thanks for the pics. I drive by that building every day and was wondering where in the heck the plane went to. Now I know.

  6. Let the Waxi comments begin!

    ReplyDelete
  7. Someone needs to check the basement to make sure Mr. Angry is ok.

    ReplyDelete
  8. 9:01 - you are correct - let's hear those big boy words that he loves to use over and over and over.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Must be a lot of sore wrists and arms over at SCJ from all that back slapping going on.

    ReplyDelete
  10. What a testament to Racine and the hood that they feel the need to hide it at night.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Orbs, Love reading your comments and have over the past couple years, that was my thought as well.

    Party on Bro!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Orbs - if it were in your neighborhood they'd have to hide it also - so what's the problem?

    ReplyDelete
  13. What can you do? We have a bunch of people who are drains on society, living in a small area. Giving them handouts doesn't work. They just get greedier and expect more. They all need boot camp.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I don't live that far away.

If it was out near Wingspread, do you think it would be lowered into the basement every night?

I guess bulletproof glass was too exorbitant.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Let's not jump to conclusions.

Just because the plane was lowered last night, soon after it was installed, does not mean it's going to be lowered every night.

Nor does your theory of why it was lowered have any basis in fact.

    ReplyDelete
  16. They do that so Mr. Angry can't sneak in and wipe boogers on it.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Sorry for jumping to conclusions. What other reason could there be? They raise and lower it to make it look like it's flying? I understand a basement garage if the plane needs maintenance, but it just hangs there.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Orbs,

Yes that's exactly what it's supposed to look like -- landing and taking off. It's dedicated to the plane flight.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Coal power BURN BABY BURN.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I suspect that the plane will remain stationary and that it will be lowered occasionally for cleaning or close-up viewing. I think simulating take-offs and landings is not part of the plan. We'll see.

  21. Another JOHNSON mile stone!!

What a wonderful addition to the tourist attractions in our area.

The real question is "Will the tourists visit"?--- or will we have to give them a room, bath and a free lunch"?

It's a shame that only Johnson's really giving back to the community.

In a perfect world everyone would try and do sometime nice for their home town. With the self-centered greed here -- We're lucky to have anything nice at all. Sad!! so Sad!!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I shudder to think what a certain tribe of treasure tyrants blew on this monstrosity. While our low-income seniors are being taxed out of their homes, the hyperprivileged property tax dodgers prance, preen and inflict another reminder of their excessive wealth on the community. If a guy I'll call "Dr. Risk Waxman" is so interested in honoring his Dad, he can start paying his property taxes and ramp up his cash-cadging clan's charity work. The last thing this poverty pit of a town needs is another big-buck architectural ego monument. (By the way, in case you're wondering, I'm not "Mr. Angry." My gut guess is that the fellow some of you taunt and address by that name may actually be several irate citizens of Racine.)

    ReplyDelete
  23. I once took a survey of fellow workers. The question was -- would you give back a dollar hour of your wages if the company would build a multi-million dollar plant and put hundreds of new people to work?

No surprise -- it was almost 100% "NO"

At that time I learned that 90% of the people I worked with didn't care about anyone but their self!

It's doubtful that will ever change. But we should all be thankful when someone does care.

I don't like the free ride you "WAX-BOYS" get on Taxes! But your contributions to Racine have made our home town a better place to live and that is worth something too.

I guess the term "GOOD TAX PAYING CITIZEN" no longer means anything these days.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Mr. Angry 9:13 - you never let us down with your morbid down trotten opinions - day after day after day. Keep up the good work - loser.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I can't wait to hear all the good stuff about Denmark.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Denmark? What's that country got to do with the Carnauba? Out at a certain elitist family's oh-so-cushy compound, the Carnauba would be fine. However, in an impoverished inner city neighborhood, that plane and its glitzy shrine are out of place. Considering all the misery here in Racine, the flying machine and its fancy hangar are guaranteed to arouse anger galore. If one tenth of the fortune spent on that farce had been used to help the poor,a much-resented family would be loved instead of loathed.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Just call the place "Fancy Sleaz-a Mall." If that's what the rich think Racine and its people need, they require a refresher course in ethics.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Denmark! Danish! OMG!

VIKINGS! LOOT, RAPE, PILLAGE, users, takers -- Get the picture?

    Definition ---> Danes
A ethnic group of that just takes without out giving anything back.

With 1/3 of the city's population from this gene pool you can't expect a lot of civic outpouring.

The cannon was placed at Washington Avenue & 12th Street pointing west. To keep the Danes in their West Racine stronghold.

It's said, they emigrated with dragon ships right up the Root River into Washington Park. Then made their way a 1/4 mile west and founded -Little Denmark.

Only know contribution to the community -Kingle.

    ReplyDelete
  29. How wrong of them...putting something nice in the ghetto.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Sorry

The only Known Danish contribution to Racine -- was KRINGLE!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Then it's only bakeries and Heart Doctors benefit from the Danes tasty contribution.

How much have you given to feed the poor Mr. Angry???

Racine is one of the most caring communities in the country. Anyone that doesn't have food here is either to High on drugs or to drunk to take care of their family.

Sounds like a hate issue with anybody with a few bucks in the bank.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Dear 2:16 PM, No, the poor don't need boot camp, a sadistic institution promoted by heartless elitists. Unfortunately, some paupers have been abused by our oligarchs. Don't be surprised if the poor someday get even with their oppressors by sending them to special camps. (No, I'm not threatening anyone. Rather, I'm reminding our rich readers that the Khmer Rouge and its buddies did that to Cambodia's privileged classes. Regardless who runs them, boot camps and similar institutions are evil--if every boot camp on this planet were closed, I'd rejoice.)

    ReplyDelete
  33. They could have built a nice title loan store or tavern there. That would have been so much better.
    SDJ

    ReplyDelete
  34. There was a tavern in the neighborhood. And a couple of restaurants. Gas stations, pizza joint, dry cleaners, all sorts of stuff. J-Wax bought them all up and gutted the neighborhood so they could insulate themselves from the nearby residents of Racine.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Gas station...restaurant...we seem to have trouble with those lately...right Gus?

    ReplyDelete
  36. The Danish also manipulate our pizza. The pizza here is junk. I just thought they were doing it wrong here but then I talked to a pizza professional and he said it is the Danes. They like thin crust and awful sauce.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Dear 3:15 PM, You're absolutely correct--that's what the House of Wax and its lackeys do to ordinary people and the businesses rank-and-file folks patronize. Ever since Frank Lloyd Wright and his third wife taught the Carnauba Court that aesthetics trumped ethics, the Waxies have been committing ugly acts of elitism in the name of beauty. If the truth were told, the arrogant Waxtrash clan would like to see Racine transformed into a corporate version of Taliesen ruled by "The Family" in the same way that Wright and his third wife lorded it over the apprentices and fellows at their arty-tarty cult compound. (Anyone who wants to learn about the sick head games played by Wright and his third consort should read "The Fellowship." Unfortunately, Wright and his hocus-pocus pushing spouse influenced a lot of their wealthy clients. Here in Racine, their warped legacy persists. As my Irish-American Dad phrased it, "the malady lingers on.")

    ReplyDelete
  38. I love Racine. It's my home. There's a lot of nice people here. The terrarium's silly.

    ReplyDelete
  39. The Waxi comments are getting so old. You've made your point hundreds of times, we are tired reading it. So you don't like the Johnsons - there I've said it for you - now move on!

    ReplyDelete
  40. He doesn't like capitalism either...or Racine...or anything for that matter. He does like Denmark though.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Yes, you are correct. This Mr. Angry should just move to Denmark or shut up!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Reading the comments here and on the JT website I am more convinced than ever that my friends in Texas are correct when they observe that "some people would find something to bitch about if you hung them with a new rope."

    ReplyDelete
  43. That does not make sense. Of course I would complain if I was being hung (new rope or old rope).

    ReplyDelete
  44. Makes sense to me, people in TX are morons.

The building is pretty, the plane is unlike any plane many have seen.
I hope "they" leave'r up after a while.

    ReplyDelete
  45. There's nothing wrong with that seaplane as such. If it were kept at a certain plutocratic clan's foundation headquarters, it would elicit oohs and ahs of admiration. However, in a low-income neighborhood inhabited by victims of the economic elite, the Carnauba could cause controversy and--possibly--confrontations. Common sense should tell the Barons and Baronesses of Bug Spray, Boodle and Bourgeois Ballyhoo that displaying a multi-million dollar flying machine in the 'hood is a request for trouble galore. For everyone's sake, let's hope that "Dr. Risk" moves the plane to "Whitebread" or Batten International Airport.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Do you mean the company that has been there twice as long as you have been alive? Do you mean the location that has been there long before this so called 'hood turned sour?
    Please stop being so arrogant.
Victims? Come on, give me a break!
Stop preaching the manifesto over and over please. It is getting old.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Dear 1/16/2010 2:00 PM, I'm not arrogant--rather, I'm only being honest. Racine is loaded with victims of our oligarchy and its evil system. Anyone who thinks that the poor won't resent an ego monument such as "Project Honor" is living in Lighthouse Loot Lord La-La Land. Until we build a social safety net for all Americans, displaying the Carnauba in the 'hood is tantamount to asking for trouble.

    ReplyDelete
  48. The sooner that plane is relocated to a well-secured venue far from the 'hood, the better. With double-digit unemployment and misery running rampant in the inner city, the Carnauba and its cushy shrine are prime targets for vandals and other people who'll vent their rage against the system by smashing the oligarchy's ostentatious toys. Taunting the poor by dangling pricey playthings in their faces is asking for trouble. (By the way, this isn't innovative advice from a radical. Way back in the early nineteen-hundreds, Woodrow Wilson told the elite to eschew conspicuous consumption and keep their expensive automobiles out of low-income neighborhoods.)

    ReplyDelete
  49. If anyone tries, the Waxi's should just take them out one at a time!

    ReplyDelete
  50. oligarchy's ostentatious toys

    elite to eschew conspicuous

We have a prodigy here. To bad the person is so negative.

    ReplyDelete
  51. No--the person is a realist.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Until we build a social safety net for all our citizens, plutocrats' playthings such as the Carnauba will arouse rage and resentment galore.

    ReplyDelete
  53. 10:19 - we don't CARE!

    ReplyDelete
  54. For everyone's sake, I hope and pray that we all learn to care about the less-fortunate and their needs. If memory serves me right, Marie Antoinette and her frivolous, hyper-privileged clique learned respect for the rest of humanity the hard way.

    ReplyDelete
  55. i cant believe all the whining that goes on here who cares if j wax builds a building to honor someone the last time i checked it was their money. and as for helping out less privillaged people its time for people to help themselves instead of waiting for a handout. project honor kept alot of people working.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Except for the architect and his pals, I'm pretty sure that the folks who built this ego monument for the Waxies did chimp chores for chump change. A tribe of billionaires who couldn't give their wage slaves their customary profit sharing checks should never be equated with philanthropists or benefactors.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I think I know why the wage slaves and salary serfs didn't receive their profit sharing checks. That seaplane ought to be renamed "The Cash-Nabber."

    ReplyDelete
  58. Since the Waxies value material things more than the well-being and happiness of ordinary people, that seaplane shrine should be called "OBJECT Honor." (If the Sons of Scam think that Racine's downtrodden denizens are going to worship that architectural abomination and revere the Waxclan, they've got another guess coming.)

    ReplyDelete
  59. This is one of the finest things that has happened in Racine in many years. Complain now but please later visit it and enjoy it. As you walk around just remember Sam Johnson.

SAMUEL C. JOHNSON He walked with kings but would take the time to shake a factory workers hand. GOD BLESS HIM

    ReplyDelete
  60. Yes, Sam was a good man trapped in an evil system. How I wish that his heirs had honored him with humanitarian work and other decent deeds instead of a pricey ego monument!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Fortaleza Hall and the Carnauba remind me of the French elite's follies right before the Revolution of 1789. Like the Waxies and their ilk, the ermine vermin at Versailles blew mega-loot on avant-garde architecture and flying machines. (Back in those pre-plane days, the Gallic oligarchy doted on hot air balloons.) I believe a fellow named Santayana said that those who failed to learn from history were condemned to repeat it...

    ReplyDelete
  62. History lessons aside, the seaplane and its gleaming temple are slaps in the faces of the poor.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Ignore it then.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I've been there - it's wonderful. I guess to bad for the poor if they feel that way. I have a better idea - go see it and enjoy instead of whining.

    ReplyDelete
  65. If you're poor, gazing at plutocrats' pricey playthings is a source of pain, not pleasure. As a historian, I can tell you that the Waxclan's crystal cathedral consecrated to aviation, avarice and arrogance will annoy our downtrodden populace. For everyone's sake, I pray that the Waxies will move the Carnauba to a more secure location.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Any way you look at it, Fortaleza Hall is a corporate cathedral consecrated to aviation, avarice and arrogance. In addition, it's a contemporary counterpart of Gessler's hat. (Back in the Middle Ages, a wicked Austrian governor named Hermann Gessler oppressed the peasants in a Swiss village called Altdorf. To remind the peasants of their lowly status, Gessler placed his hat on a pole in the town square and forced his subjects to bow before it. Fortunately for the Swiss and their eventual independence from Austria, a freedom fighter--William Tell--refused to worship Gessler's hat.)

    ReplyDelete
  67. History lessons aside, building such an ostentatious monument to entrepreneurial greed is sheer folly during the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression.

    ReplyDelete
  68. While we're at it, here's hoping the Waxies won't promote a community art project this year. The last one--Sunny and Chair--aroused nothing but hostile comments from my Illinois and Indiana visitors. To non-privileged people who must exist in the real world, the bedaubed and bedizened chairs seemed ridiculous. When I identified the corporate crime family responsible for the farce, my guests vowed to boycott certain products.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Regardless, there's too much art and not enough heart in Racine.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Most people don't know that the Johnson's Wax story was pretty close to a Rags to Riches story. Samuel C. Johnson was a struggling middle aged flooring salesman. When the local manufacturer he was working for discontinued the wood flooring line Johnson bought it. With hard work and some insight from His son Herbert the company grew to be a world leader.

The first Samuel C. Johnson lived in a very modest home on Wisconsin Avenue. He's buried in Kenosha the city he considered home.

We're so lucky that his Children, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren -- consider Racine as their home.

    Looking in my crystal ball

    Headlines will read some day
JOHNSON'S WAX BUILDS WORLD CLASS CULTURAL CENTER IN RACINE,WISCONSIN

The massive Complex will include a modern new high tech Public Library, Fine Arts Museum, Heritage Museum and a large Theater for stage and music productions. all under one roof with a public mall space in the center. The complex is to be built on City parkland just south of the Racine Zoo.

A member of the Johnson family remarked at the ribbon cutting - "The best interests of our home town have always been our first priority"

Laugh now!! But I've seen crazier things happen in my short life. Maybe I'm a dreamer? But so was the original Samuel C. Johnson and look what happened to his dream.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Wake up, beautiful dreamer! Here's a haiku for you: The shrine is open/ but don't worship the seaplane./ It's just a thing.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Please don't be deceived by the Sons of Scam and their corporate propaganda. If the Waxies were so good, they'd pay their property taxes instead of dumping their share of the burden on our low-income and elderly residents.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Furthermore, Racine--badnews Badgerland's number-one poverty pit--doesn't need art and culture. Until the Waxies pay their property taxes and ramp up their charity work, they should keep their flubdubs and follies out at "Whitebread."

    ReplyDelete
  74. If the truth were told, the Waxies are dollar-sign disciples of the late, far-from-great Frank Lloyd Wright, a slick society quack for whom aesthetics trumped ethics and money reigned supreme. Influenced by the personality cults which Wright and his third wife inflicted on their servile apprentices, the Waxies have crafted a cult-like corporate culture which revolves around the whims of "The Scam-ily."

    ReplyDelete
  75. If it's any consolation to the long-suffering people of Racine, Wright's renown and baleful influence won't last forever. Back in the years leading up to the French Revolution, Marie Antoinette had an architect on whom she lavished kudos and cash galore--Richard Mique. While Marie Antoinette and her mate King Louis XVI ran France into the ground, Mique and his aesthetic theories reigned supreme. However, once the Revolution erupted, it was a different story. To the leaders of the new regime, a guy who encouraged the deposed royal family to blow bags of boodle on artificial lakes and bogus peasant villages with fancy barns full of perfumed and beribboned cattle was a criminal. Despite the pleas of architecture fans, Mique wound up minus his head. Soon his reputation as France's top architect followed him into oblivion. Today, Mique is an obscure figure who crops up in some biographies of Marie Antoinette as one of several charlatans who encouraged her to waste public funds on her private follies. Let's hope that a similar fate may await Frank Lloyd Wright's unmerited fame.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Frank Lloyd Wright: elitism, racism, labor exploitation, arrogance, crackbrained ideas and leaky roofs! If I were a John-Swine, I wouldn't oink about my forebears' links with that quack.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Frankly, Wright's little habit of pounding female servants to a pulp and bragging about it in his correspondence should be enough to convince the Waxgals that their clan doesn't need to be associated with that creep. Ditto Wright's abuse of his apprentices and his notorious tendency to avoid paying his bills. When you factor in his third wife's interest in occultism and pornography, it's clear that our corporate oligarchy ought to distance itself from Wright and his dubious legacy a.s.a.p.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Dear 1/25/11:02 PM, Enjoy Fortaleza Hall if you must. However, don't forget that there's blood on hands with platinum bands and mouths which spout corporate commands. Mega-wealth never grows innocently. As Honore de Balzac phrased it, "behind every great fortune there lurks a great crime." Although some Waxies have tried to be good, most of them have been active members of the Waxtrash Corporate Crime Family. Have fun with the seaplane and its arty-tarty temple, but don't let the Carnauba Court and its pricey propaganda deceive you.

    ReplyDelete
  79. You are all such sad people. I've been though it and it is a magnificent addition to the community. It created a number of local jobs during its construction, it will create additional jobs upon its completion. It is another Johnson investment in the city which would lead one to believe they have no intention of leaving. You can call them waxi's if you want, but I don't believe those that are working the line at Waxdale who are making a decent living would consider themselves to be Waxi's. This family has created a number of jobs in Racine. I guess for that you should tramaple their business and name so that you low life depressing people can feel better. By the way I don't and have never worked there.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Dear 10:26 AM, You bet the John-Swines have no intention of leaving Racine. Why would they abandon a pauper pit full of desperate wage slaves who'll do donkey work for dinky dollars? Why would those treasure tyrants relinquish their power over a beaten-down burg with the best government money can buy? Despite their benevolent posturing, the Lighthouse Loot Lords and Lucre Ladies are motivated by self-interest. (Sad to say, this has been true of capitalists for centuries. Back in the days of the French Revolution, there was an award-winning wallpaper manufacturer named Reveillon, who posed as a philanthropist while exploiting child labor. Eventually, the tiny toilers' parents and other Parisian workers got fed up with Reveillon's propaganda and his evil labor practices. One fine day, the workers formed a mob, stormed Reveillon's factory, removed all the employees from the building and burned it to the ground. For good measure, they also fried his residence and his pricey art collection. From what I've read, Reveillon and his wife had to flee for their lives. Let's hope that our oligarchy may change its ways in time to avert similar events. Remember, those who fail to learn from history are condemned to repeat it. )

    ReplyDelete
  81. What a load of crap - you'd love to work at SCJ and earn the money the workers make at any level. But I forgot Mr. Angry - you don't have the balls to do anything but whine and complain on this site - you sad loser.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Who's Mr. Angry? Furthermore, who says that he--or I--would wish to serve the Waxtrash Corporate Crime Family?

    ReplyDelete
  83. Wealth rarely, if ever, grows honestly. According to Balzac, behind every great fortune there lurks a great crime. Coming soon to certain cushy compounds and gated estates: nationalization of family companies and the bulk of their assets.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Amen! Maybe then the people's government will auction off the erstwhile elite's playthings to the oil sheiks to fund social programs.

    ReplyDelete
  85. I can just hear the auctioneer: "Come on, Your Majesties! What will you bid on this big, bold bogus Sick-orsky?"

    ReplyDelete
  86. Here's a haiku entitled "Toy Temple": The shrine awaits you/ but don't worship the idol./ It's only a thing.

    ReplyDelete
  87. If only the Waxies knew the difference between people and inanimate objects, they'd behave much better. Maybe then they'd avoid the hatred which their worship of pricey playthings inspires in Racine's working class. Even in good economic times, the seaplane and its shrine would irk anyone who's been forced to do toad tasks for tiddly-diddly. During a depression, flaunting that flying machine and its high-end hangar can cause nothing but trouble.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Did any of the arrogant, airheaded Waxies ever study ethics? Did even one of them manage to stay awake during a history class at Cornell? By the looks of things, they must have slept through their history courses and shunned the subject of ethics like the proverbial plague. Otherwise, they would never have blown a fortune on a ritzy reliquary for a mothballed seaplane while thousands of their victims remained mired in poverty. (Anybody who'd paid attention during an ethics class would have learned that squandering mega-wealth on pricey toys while others lack the necessities is wrong. Furthermore, a good world history class would have shown them what happened to hyper-privileged art and architecture fans back in the days of the French Revolution.)

    ReplyDelete
  89. Toads like you deserve toad work - Carry on!

    ReplyDelete
  90. If you're addressing me, I'm a frog (Frenchman), not a toad. What's more, nobody deserves toadish tasks. Grow up and stop acting like a schoolyard bully. Although I would never harm you, scads of workingmen whom your crass class brothers have oppressed may feel and act otherwise. The time may come when businessmen will have prices on their heads and a new regime may pay bounties to those who bag economic ermine vermin. (None of the above is intended as a threat. Rather, it is a social commentator and historian's warning that capitalism's victims may wise up and rise up sooner than we care to think. If their revolution turns violent, all bets are off and anything could happen.)

    ReplyDelete
  91. Please don't be surprised if that flying machine and its silly sanctuary are nationalized by 2030. Soon change will be in the air and it won't be pennies tossed to the peasantry.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Mr. Angry - it's funny how you try and supress your threats. You toad - get back to your toad job. Oh, that's right you live off the government. You are worse than a toad.

    ReplyDelete
  93. I'm not Mr. Angry. Furthermore, I've never received a government check in my life. (By the way, a lot of veterans get help from the government. You'd better not call any vets "toads" or they'll tell you a thing or two.)

    ReplyDelete
  94. Mr. Angry The vet's deserve eveything they get and more. It's slackers like you I am referring too.

    ReplyDelete
  95. I'm not Mr. Angry. As for being a slacker, your bullying has inspired my class brothers and myself to intensify our dedication to anti-capitalist endeavors.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Lord willing, someday a people's government will seize and peddle that ridiculous seaplane to fund social programs.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Mr. Angry - Good luck to you and your "Bro's" - but it ain't going to happen. Go back into your hole. As far as we are concerned people like you do not exist.

    ReplyDelete
  98. I'm not Mr. Angry. Regardless of my identity, history will determine who enjoys the last laugh.

    ReplyDelete
  99. History will determine who will have the last laugh - I would think it should say the future - but in any event it won't happen, good luck in your dreams - loser.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Someday--sooner than you care to think--the people's dreams will be our new reality. Enjoy the bourgeois toyshop while it's still legal.

    ReplyDelete
  101. I love my bourgeois toyshop. Too bad you are too lazy to achieve my wonderful lifestyle. And this lifestyle is attainable by anyone and will be forever.

  102. Don't try to sell that spiel to most workingmen--though they scramble and scrounge, they're lucky if they can feed their families sans reliance on Food Stamps. For most people who weren't born into the elite, the American dream is a mirage because American reality is a nightmare.

    ReplyDelete
  103. I am a working man and I love my bourgeois toyshop. Once again, you are wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Although I rejoice in your good fortune, I bid you remember that capitalism tends to reward wealth rather than work. If you are a prosperous workingman, you are the exception to the rule.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Capitalism tends to reward those who put out the effort.

  106. If you believe that one, I've got a great special going on the Grand Canyon, which I'll sell you cheap.Since capitalism rewards wealth rather than work, a trust fund degener-twit who never earned a paycheck can live better than a poor Joe who devotes sixty hours per week to the nickel chase. Wake up and look around you--the people who enjoy the highest standards of living don't toil away like bipedal beavers. Conversely, the folks who put in Dickensian work weeks usually have nothing.

  107. I love capitalism and all the money it has provided me.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Capitalism has made this country the greatest on the planet!

    ReplyDelete
  109. Love your capitalism while you may and enjoy your toys today, because grab-it-all-ism's reign is coming to its end.

    ReplyDelete
  110. As for America, it's the GROSSEST, not the greatest, developed post-industrial country on the planet. Where health care, education and protection from poverty are concerned, the Useless A trails the pack.

    ReplyDelete
  111. "It's the GROSSEST, not the greatest, developed post-industrial country on the planet. Where health care, education and protection from poverty are concerned" - works for us too bad for you loser. Go whine somewhere else.

  112. The future will decide who wins and who loses.

    ReplyDelete
  113. As for going somewhere else, you and your crass class brothers may have to flee a socialist America and take refuge in some Third World hellpit where you'll be able to abuse the weak for another generation or two. However, since even Third World people may wise up and rise up against you, you may not enjoy that great a future. Remember, most Third World cultures don't put a very high value on human life. When the wretched of the earth rebel against you or your heirs, the consequences could be ghastly.

  114. Mr. Angry - as Reagan would say "there you go again" with your threats. Remember it got you in trouble last time.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Nothing I say is a threat. Rather, it is a sociologist and historian's honest appraisal of current conditions and their possible consequences. Although some of my associates-cum-competitors feel otherwise, I'd never harm you. Indeed, as a Christian, I'm obligated to pray for your well-being and eternal salvation.

  117. There is no Mister Angry, only many angry men. And when they're done, the corp'rate sun shall never rise again.

    ReplyDelete
  118. As a Christian, you should know that only One can pass judgement on another; and it isn't you. You will probably as usual deny this, but myself, as a real Christian, know better. Again, hypocracy in action.

  119. 6:59 - "Praise the Lord". Knuckelhead

    ReplyDelete
  120. You need to learn how to spell knucklehead correctly, knucklehead (and pay attention to the stream of content).

    ReplyDelete
  121. Hey - you got me there. I guess I was the knucklehead that time - first time in my life however.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Dear Dustin and Pete, Methinks we need a special column devoted to the dirty, ditzy deeds of our oppressors. Maybe we could call it "Waxwatch" or "Carnauba Knowledge." Regardless of its name, we must get the lowdown on the high-and-mighty enemies of the people. Thank you very much!

    ReplyDelete
  123. Good idea. Hopefully then Mr Angry and stop his useless tirade on the masses and keep it all under one story, which we all could ignore.

    ReplyDelete
  124. I doubt if the public would ignore such a column in a town where the Waxies are pillars of the oligarchic Establishment responsible for the misery of the majority. Yes, in Racine, the pillars of the Establishment give everyone else the shaft. Consequently, the rightfully-irate citizenry would savor such a column.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Hmmm...Maybe we should name the column the "J-Whacks Urinal." Seriously, an evil clan whose members void on the peasantry deserves whatever the Fourth Estate may deem appropriate and sewer-ta-bowl.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Coming sooner than Dr. Risk may think: a human trafficking scandal. (Nobody is accusing the eximious Dr.Risk of participation in the above-mentioned crime. However, wherever one encounters corporate corruption and lavish lifestyles, one finds privileged people who engage in such abominations. I'd advise Dr. Risk to pay close attention to his six-figure-income retainers and their families. Ditto the local seven-figure-income blight trash with which his social position forces him to associate. None of this is, I repeat, an insult to Dr. Risk. It is merely a watchman's warning about a possible expose which could put the City and County of Racine on the map in a manner of which he would not approve.

    ReplyDelete
  127. The Becker scandal didn't happen by accident. Neither have the other crimes committed by our local elite. All of these are detrimental to the reputation of a certain city as well as the dollar-sign dynasty responsible for the aforesaid community's problems. From those who have been given too much, much--or everything--may be expected and extracted. (Unlike some who leave messages here, I speak as a friend who wishes a certain oligarchic clan no harm.)

    ReplyDelete
  128. OLIGARCHY!

    ReplyDelete
  129. After the people's government has divested them of their excessive wealth, the ex-oligarchs will be harmless. Cap fortunes held by families or individuals at ten million dollars and the erstwhile kleptoplutocrats will live well sans the power to abuse their fellow-citizens.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Yada, yada, yada - over and over again. Mr. Angry - please give it up. No one cares what you have to say. It won't happen - get out and get a job, quit looking for the easy government handout and get on some anti depressants. You are dismissed - I'm done with you on this one.

    ReplyDelete
  131. How do you know that I don't have a job? Perhaps some of my friends are well-to-do and even provide other people with gainful employment. As for my group, we've got members EVERYWHERE in Racine, including a certain corporate crime family's executive suites.

    ReplyDelete
  132. The Wicked Good Militia and the Waxbashers are on the march!

    ReplyDelete
  133. Querido Fisk, Ch-ngue su Madre!

    ReplyDelete
  134. Mierda en su avion! Yo cago en su Carnauba.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Venceremos! Don Maricon, cagamos en su compania. Que su dinero se cambie en mierda!

    ReplyDelete
  136. Memo to "Yellin'": Our operatives have inflitrated your precious "Whitebread" at several levels, including the upper echelon. Good day, Ma'am!

    ReplyDelete
  137. Let the "grandiose" galas and 'hood times roll!

    ReplyDelete
  138. So there is where profit sharing went last year.Maybe they will let me take a piece of the plane as my share of PS if I ever visit there.

    ReplyDelete
  139. this is funny. SCJ should move to texas. idiots like the ones on this board are the reason Racine sucks and just about everyone i grew up with left as soon as they could, myself included. I can tell you it isn't the johnson's that are making Racine a horrible place to live. it is drug dealing thugs who wouldn't take an honest job even at $5k per month (if they were even qualified to do the job)
