Ken Lumpkin is looking to break back into local politics.
The former Racine County Board supervisor and owner of the Insider News took out papers today to run for County Board and City Council, though he hasn't decided if he'll run for one or both offices.
Lumpkin ran for both seats in 2008, but lost them both to James Kaplan.
December 1 was the first day candidates could begin to circulate paper for the April 6 spring elections. Primary elections, if needed, are Feb. 16.
yawn.
ReplyDeleteIf he would actually campaign, and not just drive voters to the polls, he might win one of them.
ReplyDeletePlease do not Ken, help to remove Dickert from being Mayor.
ReplyDeleteI Ken carve my Lumpkin on Halloween.
ReplyDeleteI think Lumpkin will do quite well. He will win one of them. He have been very involed in his community in the last two years.
ReplyDeleteI have read his newspaper and he cannot put a grammatically correct sentence together. How on God's earth will he be able to actually win and fill a position without embarrassing himself?
ReplyDeleteKraplan or Dumpkin? I am sure glad I don't live in that district.
ReplyDeleteHe should not run and help the City get rid of Dickert.
ReplyDeleteKen,
ReplyDeleteAs a friend please pick one but not both. No offense for the two that are on both elected bodies, but it doesn't work well. The two that do both are constantly walking out of one meeting to go to another one or just missing meetings. Showing up for a few minutes for the board or council to be marked as present then leaving is not representation. Each body requires full focus not juggling.
Pick one or the other and run for it. You will likely win.
I am glad to see him run. I hope he has Kaplan wondering about all the details of decisions he made. We need more people like Ken to challenge this nanny council.
ReplyDeleteThis is to Anonymous 12/11/2009 @ 5:14 am.........have you read the Insider News lately? I think not. However, you can pick up any paper and read it...the Vine, the Mirror, Journal Times, oh, and proof some of those big name magazines out there....you won't find one of them error free. Who are you to judge? More to the point, Ken Lumpkin has served over eight years in the past, is now the president of Racine Interfaith Coalition and is a very active member in the community and I would harldy call that an embarrassment. Ken is a person who genuinely cares about the people in his community, and trying to make it a better place for us all. I really don't think you know this man at all so let's give credit where credit is due.....don't be hatin.

ReplyDeleteDoes Dustin still work for the Insider News? And doesn't the Insider News pay for advertising on racinepost?
ReplyDeleteIt that why he's running to advertise with Dustin. Come up with something better than that.
