Railroad bridge construction over Highway 11 nears completion

The seemingly endless railroad overpass project that's closed the intersection of Highway 11 and Sheridan Road for the better part of 18 months is coming to an end.

Work on the Union Pacific Railroad bridge and retaining wall is scheduled to be complete next month. Crews started the $7 million project in May 2008.

Here's a couple more photos of the construction site shot last week:

  3. When this is complete the DOT and Mount Pleasant will be working on Hwy 32 from Larson, north to 21st street. Slow driving ahead.

  4. You'd think that for $7 mil. the bridge would have been painted instead of rusty steel. Oh well, it may not look nice but at least the road will be open again.

  5. Not a moment too soon. I really believe they drag these projects out all season.

State St. is driving me nuts. There is no detour. If you need to go left you are screwed. You cannot turn left before State and end up miles out of your way. Lets hurry up and get this done.
