Another blow to our self-esteem:
Racine may lose its Cadillac dealership

Not that you were planning to buy a Cadillac anytime soon -- that's probably part of the problem -- but it appears the car marque that at one time meant luxury will be leaving Racine. Out of reach geographically, as well as price-wise, as it were.

The Business Journal of Milwaukee reports this morning that General Motors is dropping the franchises of 70 percent of its Cadillac dealerships: "...And Southeast Wisconsin is no exception, leaving only two area dealerships confirmed as continuing beyond 2010 — Metropolitan in West Allis and Crest in Brookfield."

We tried to confirm this, but the word from the headquarters of Frank Boucher Chevy Cadillac Saab, our Caddy dealership at 8600 Washington Ave., is that "we typically do not comment on matters like this."

BizJournal's story said GM is slimming down from 1,400 Cadillac dealerships nationwide to 400. Dealers that are losing the franchise have until October 2010 to close, but will not receive any new Cadillacs to sell between now and then.

Frank Boucher's local website lists just five new Caddy's for sale right now, ranging from a white 2007 for $38,499 (list: $49,975) to a 2009 STS V6 with Luxury Package and All-Wheel Drive, "internet-priced" at just $49,964 (sticker: $56,910).

But hurry.

  1. Nothing gets done at Government Motors without Obama's say so. Call him and carp.

  2. What do you expect? If you can afford a Caddie, then the Doyle clan wants to tax all your income. Well, those folk are heading south for tax friendly states, so why does Racine need a Cadillac dealer. I will not go down the path of the current Cadillac owners that operate in the cash only economy.

  3. I would take a Lexus over a Cadillac any day.

  4. If we don't change the dumbasses that are holding our public offices very soon. I might look into a YUGO dealership, they will be a big hit at $2995 brand new. That's all we will have here, broke unemployed welfare recipients that drive a YUGO.

  5. Here you have it again, the O'Nazi party is taking dealer's franchises away from them (and probably with no remuneration just like Chrysler) and putting more people out of work. YOUR president working for YOU (the ones that elected him). How do you like these potatoes, liberals (especially those of you who can afford Cadillacs)?

  6. Of course Obama Motors closed Boucher. Gordie contributed to the Republicans.

That will not be tolerated under the Obama Regime.

  11. News Flash - Cory Mason has just proposed a 1% tax on people who can afford Cadallacs so this is step 2 to drive any and all money out of town...
Even the US Governmenrt doesn't want to do business here.

  12. Why do all of you think that only legal dollars go to buy Caddy's. Haven't you seen the base thumpin, circus wagon, wildly painted, backward-hatted clown driven vehicles go by your house? Many of those caddy's were bought with poison that is causing our youth to slump down the street with the sun in their eyes because the brim of their hat is resting on their neck. Crack dealers, the big time ones, just cruise by your house in their caddy's and shake the windows in your house and the coins out of the pockets of your kids. Caddy's are not a crown of success anymore. So who needs them. Look around you. Do you see us progressing or is the world flat after all.
