Best Buy moving into Circuit City building

Racine's Best Buy is likely moving next door to the site of the former Circuit City. A reliable reader sent us in this tip:
Best Buy is moving into the old Circuit City. It’s a smaller area, which means less rent. They’re going to scale down significantly on the amount of CDs they carry. They’re in the process of clearing out Circuit City as we speak. Just wanted to relay that on. Get it out there before the “newspaper” does.
We called Best Buy and were told the move is "99.9 percent done," but it hasn't been officially decided. Employees were clearing out the Circuit City store -- they tell us they have until the end of the month to remove everything, including offices and bathrooms -- and the store's general manager is now waiting for approval on high to make the move.

The move is expected before Best Buy's "busy season," which begins before Thanksgiving.

The two buildings are managed by Nifong Realty of Green Bay. The Circuit City building, which became vacant in January, is about one-third smaller than the Best Buy building.

  1. Swell. Now Pick 'n' Save can move into the Best Buy building.

I suppose moving south one building at a time beats following Sam's Club to Kenosha all at once.

  2. I stopped going to Best Buy because of the rap music blasting over everything. If they're scaling back on CDs, perhaps they'll also scale back on the sonic assaults. In any case, cheaper alternatives are available online.

  3. They probably don't need as big of an are now that they have opened a Kenosha store. If I recall correctly, the Kenosha store is about the size of the current Racine Best Buy.

  4. Actually the Kenosha store is smaller with less selection. I was suprised that a Racine store was "better" than a neighboring city's.

  6. Cool hopefully yhey can gt rid of that garish and tacky price tag themed sign from the mid 1980's.

Remember when Best Lie was by Pick N' Save where TJ Craps is now ?
And remember when the TJ Craps location was the Oakes folks backyard ?
Thank god for landfills and disposable architecture.

  7. Very poor move. I worked at Circuit City for 6 years. Very bad heating and cooling. Small warehouse (not much room for refrigerators, and etc. Very small area for employees to eat.
Small office area and customer service area. Best Buy will now be very very cramped. This is a downward move for Best Buy.

  8. I'm not a huge fan of Best Buy anyway. I'm really not a huge fan of any store that puts things "on sale" for what should be the regular price and thinks I'm going to be dumb enough to fall for that. Kohl's Department Store does the same thing and people eat it up - I'll never understand why...

yeah you're right but what you can do is price matching and got back and get your money back as long as your return time frame is still active.

i got about 100 bucks off a laptop that way.
