Ryan is the anti-stimulus spokesman

With Congress expected to vote on a trillion dollar spending bill tomorrow, it's no surprise that Rep. Paul Ryan, R-WI, 1st District, has an opinion (negative) and is willing to articulate it.

What is somewhat of a surprise is where he's making his voice heard: on both the BBC and CNBC and on FoxNews.
  • We missed Ryan's FoxNews appearance tonight, a Special Report with Bret Baier, at 6:20 p.m. Eastern time. Maybe you can find it online.
  • The BBC World News Tonight will air at 11 p.m. Eastern. and will be picked up by BBC radio. Maybe you can find it here.
  • Ryan also will be on CNBC – Squawk Box Friday, Feb. 13, at 8:10 a.m. Eastern.

  1. It is striking the way Paul Ryan voted "yes" to every bit of the pointless Bush War in Iraq -- which has cost us just under $600 billion as of this minute -- but now, with his own country and district facing the greatest economic catastrophe of the last 70 years, he has suddenly started casting "no" votes.

It was fine to bill our grandchildren silly and lavish Haliburton and Blackwater with no-bid contracts in Iraq, but how dare we think of spending on roads or schools or energy efficiency in our own country to avert complete economic ruin?

I really hope Paul Ryan is honestly following some misguided principle, not merely exploiting an opportunity to advance his position in his weakened party by climbing up the national wreckage that his obstructionism will cause.
