The Fill the Cupboard on Hubbard Street Festival on Saturday collected just shy of 1,000 pounds of food for people in need, according to the Racine County Food Bank.

Dan Tvailkoski, executive director of the Food Bank, reported Sunday morning that the first of what organizers hope will be an annual event brought in 997 pounds of food to the Food Bank. He said that was "absolutely wonderful" for a first-time, one-day event.

"Fill the Cupboard on Hubbard" was an all-day event hosted by Michigan's Pub and Coasters. They shut down Hubbard Street from Michigan Boulevard to Wisconsin Ave. and hosted 10 live bands, a motorcycle show and kids activities.
