Two stabbed outside Park High

Ugly incident near Park High School today. Here's a press release from the school district:
At approximately 3 p.m. Thursday, an incident occurred outside Park High School in which two students were stabbed and one student was punched in the face. All three were transported to the hospital. The incident was confined to a small area in front of the school. The Racine Police Department and school administration responded immediately to the incident.
As a precaution, additional security personnel will be at the school Friday.
Racine Police reported:
The incident started when a lone individual was specifically targeted by a group of people he did not know. The individual was surrounded by this group and they began to strike and kick him. The targeted individual then pulled out a knife he had been carrying and stabbed two of the parties that were attacking him. It is believed their injuries are non-life threatening.

This was not a random incident, the lone individual was specifically targeted by the group and this was a planned attack. There are four people in custody, all students at Park High School.
Here's hoping everyone is OK, and things get back to normal tomorrow.

  1. Surprise, surprise.

  2. I'm surprised that there are only 4 four people in custody - must have been a slow day in typical Racine crime.

  3. Why is the Post reporting on "negative" issues regarding this city??

The Post has ALWAYS maintained that they would never report on these negative incidents.

    So why now?

    Please explain.

  5. Once again - send your children to a private school, no gangs, no knives, no guns, no death threats and excellant academic results. What are you parents thinking by sending your children to a RUSD school. Isn't your child's well being and success worth more than a private school tuition???

  6. Sent my kid to private school. Learned hoe rich kids buy drugs, buy expensive alcohol and mom and daddy pay to keep the school quiet. Transferred over to Park went to rehab and is now in school to be an ATTY. Don't be so sure of yourself. Private school HIDE ALOT of illegal activity. Been there done that......

  7. anon 7:07-

Haven't you figured it out yet? Pete and Dustin lied.

They sweet-talked readers until they had enough readership to get adequate advertising sales...then they revealed their true selves.

  8. 9:40 - no police on the hall ways and I'll compare any academic statistic between the private schools and RUSD and the private schools will win out in every category. Hell, even the basketball team can't avoid truancy. And the drug and alcohol comments are getting old - I'd compare the usagae of these and this is the only place RUSD would come out the winner.

  9. Anonymous 9:40, your comment doesn't explain private schools - it explains the failure of parents in this society, where they are too afraid to parent and instead indulge their kids in everything and anything to makeup for the fact that 2-income families cannot responsibly parent children or aren't there for the kids.

The bottom line is that private schools are safe and and they have the power to enforce discipline. Drugs are a symptom of family decline.

  10. Not everything can be postive. But when you take a bad situation, like this school stabbing, it's how you report it. Some act like it's an everyday occurance and that we should never leave our homes. Let's be realistic anon 7:07and anon 9:43!!!

  11. A priest tried to molest me when I attended St. Cat's. He also supplied alochol to kids. That's how safe it was.

  12. If everyone had a gun, violence would be obsolete!

  13. We posted this story because there wasn't much information out there when we received the press releases.

You're right, we typically don't print this kind of story and we won't make it a regular habit. The JT does more than enough crime coverage for the city, but if we see them falling short, we'll try to jump in.

It pains us to see these stories, especially with teens involved. Let's hope this recent spike in violence is short lived.

  15. If you don't want to print facts, then a nice story about North Star would be swell. How about that Doyle coming down to say RUSD is on the right track, just forget that ugly part about not getting a dime in the "Race To The Top" federal money.

  16. How can they write a nice story about North Star or Doyle both he and the program suck.

  17. What about the student with a loaded gun at Wadewitz Elementary on Thursday afternoon? Cops caught the kid, but only after he had bought the gun at Fratt for ten bucks to "get" the kid who had gotten him expelled. Why is this not in the news???

  18. Just so you all know... The black and hispanic kids are planning to thumb thier nose at Racine citizens and cops now. They are planning to gather in groups in hopes people call police on them and claim it is racism and discrimination. How f'in nice. Someone get me a belt for these little shits.

  19. Dustin - Why aren't you updating this story. They've arrested more RUSD thugs.

  20. This couldn't be gang related, could it?

  21. You could put 75% of all the RUSD high school students in jail and you still would not get rid of the gangs and thugs.
