To my customers, friends, and neighbors..... with a breaking heart, I have to announce to all that Timothy York's Bistro is closing for good on Friday, August 28th. We will be open next week Tues thru Friday at 4:00 pm (bar only, open until whenever) -- would love to have you stop in to say hi and farewell. Thanks to everyone for your love, support, and patronage. I'll miss you...It's a sad outcome for a quality business that overcame a lot to stay open in recent years.
This is too bad, I never like to see this happen to any business in Racine.
ReplyDeleteHOW ANY BUSINESS ON 6TH STREET CAN STAY OPEN IS A MIRACLE, IT IS ABSOLUTLY RIDICULAS THAT THE CONSTRUCTION IS TAKING SO LONG, HALF THE TIME THERE IS NO ONE WORKING ON THE PROJECT. THE CONTRACTOR SHOULD BE ILLIMINATED FROM THE BID PROCESS ON FUTURE WORK.
ReplyDeleteIt sure is too bad that no one wants to open a new business on 6th. No wait, they did - and the biggest pothole they hit was city council.
ReplyDeleteThe City government makes it almost impossible to open and operate through their 'hand wringing’ and micro management at every turn in the process.
ReplyDeleteNote to the City – get taxes lowered, pull down the red tape of operations and allow business to operate. Don’t spend all you time trying to keep the hot dog seller out of the downtown area.
Sure am glad that the Councilmen spend more time keeping Koreans away from the white rich downtown and others protect us from Taco trucks then oh do something about crime.

Let's be real -- This isn't just about the political regime preventing a local business from succeeding. The food at this establishment was average, but the prices weren't.

ReplyDeleteI hate to put down any Racine business - but his hot dogs are mediocre at best. He needs to take a trip to NY and see what real hot dog vendors sells.
ReplyDeleteThe biggest problem I see with 6th St. businesses is just what has been cited so far: the prices are high because they think they are trendy places, but the fare is quite mediocre. I can get a better burger at Blue Diamond or Dynasty than I can at any place on 6th St., and for a lot less money. Old Madrid is really very good, as is Asiana.
ReplyDeleteAs far as the construction on 6th St. goes, you are absolutely right; it is taking much too long to complete. I can't recall the last time I actually saw someone working on it, and I drive through there quite frequently. Get off your can Street Dept. and get the job done!
downtown racine has been under perpetual constuction for 5+ years.

ReplyDeleteWe have banners flying in the uptown about the artsy happening in uptown, but what?
There is this half baked notion about talking and wishing everything into existence,that has been around here for a long time.
I went into henry and wanda's and walked back out because of pathetic service.Half arsed efforts bring bad impressions,mediocrity is killing racine.....
