A clothing store is moving into the former Big Lots on Durand Avenue next to the Piggly Wiggly.
Construction is underway on the future AJWright at 4101 Durand Ave. The company's website says the store will open in October.
AJWright is owned by the Massachusetts-based TJX Cos., which also operates hundreds of discount clothing and furnitures stores around the U.S., including TJ Maxx and Marshalls. There are 141 AJWright stores in the U.S.
TJX, worth a reported $19 billion, recently issued $400 million in bonds to be paid back in 2015.
TJX was also recently in the news for treating customers' private credit card information "like trash." Attorneys general from 41 states investigated the company and reached a settlement, though some are questioning how meaningful that settlement is.
Will fit right in next to the ghetto apartments.
ReplyDeleteKringle! (Actually, O+H is just across the street!)
ReplyDeleteMan this store is going to be BUSY. Fits right in over by Park Vista.
ReplyDeleteWill they be selling Ralph Lauren?
ReplyDeleteThey have "Ralph Loren" instead.
ReplyDeleteAnon 12:15 - That's funny.
ReplyDeleteWow. Seriously, do you people just sit at your laptops waiting for things to (anonymously) complain about on this site? How terrible it must be to hate the city you live in that much. This store is a TJ Maxx, not a value village. I'm looking forward to shopping there.
ReplyDeleteIt's too bad some people are always so negative. They must be miserable human beings and want to spread their misery around. I think it's great that there is a new store coming to town. It will bring jobs and revenue to the area. Thanks for reporting on this positive for Racine.
ReplyDeleteI agree, the negativity is downright embarassing. Ghetto apartments? You just had to go there, huh? I hear the views from your ivory tower are just spectacular. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteIt's not negativity - we just don't need another junk clothing store that misuses credit card information.
ReplyDeleteAt least it's more jobs. If it is like TJ Max. I am willing to give it a try.
ReplyDeleteIf you don't like it don't shop there.
ReplyDeleteTrash clothing stores generate trashy people. We need more upscale stores not white trash stores.
ReplyDeleteAnon 10:49: Yeah, let the poor go naked!
ReplyDeleteHey they have Value Village and Goodwill - what do you want.
